Skin care tips – DON’Ts

Don’t pick pimples or blackheads Bursting or squeezing spots can cause infection, redness and even scarring and pigmentation
Don’t wear makeup to bed Leaving makeup on your skin can clog your pores leading to breakouts, so use a makeup remover before cleansing every night
Don’t exfoliate every day as over exfoliating your skin actually leads to damaged skin
Don’t apply regular moisturiser under and around your eyes invest in a good eye cream
Don’t lean on and touch your skin as dirt and bacteria can be transported to your face when you touch it. This will lead to breakouts
Don’t wash your skin more than twice a day as by doing this you will be stripping your skin of its natural moisture
Don’t use any skin care product that is not recommended by a dermatologist or experienced skin care expert especially steroid based creams
Don’t give up on homecare and treatments because you aren’t seeing results right away. To see results, it takes time
Don’t use a body scrub on your face as body scrubs are too harsh for our delicate face
Don’t forget to wash and moisturise your face before going to bed
Don’t use too much moisturiser on your face rich, heavy creams can sit on the skin’s surface and block pores. Use easily absorbed creams and lotions or water-based products for oily skin
Don’t ignore your skin type If you have oily, sensitive or dry skin, tailor your routine to your skin’s needs and choose specially designed products
Don’t smoke as smoking makes your skin look paler and older and contributes to wrinkles due to repetitive facial expressions. Smoking also damages collagen and elastin— the fibres that give your skin strength and elasticity
